Why does my cooker need to be connected when I just want to look at recipes in the app? And the timer is impossible to set using this version. I dont trust it.
Why does my cooker need to be connected when I just want to look at recipes in the app? And the timer is impossible to set using this version. I dont trust it.
1. Cant set timer with the app 2. Cant see recipes unless the cooker is connected ....absolutely daft Again... Great cooker so two stars for that alone.
1 star for the app as you have to turn on the cooker and connect to it in order to open the app. Cant browse recipes whenever I want to or if Im not home!
With the app, we can set the cooker to our preferred temperature. We must touch START COOKING before going into a specific meat guide, then set temperature and timer. Cooking started within the guide with predefined temperature and timer cannot be modified. This is different than earlier version. Most of the problems and bad comments can be avoided if we have a good complete user guide. We have to go thru two or three manual, none is complete, precise, up to date or specific to one APC model. App is useless if cooker is not plugged in, app is always trying to connect to cooker.
This app cant connect Anova using Wifi. Worse than useless.
Doesnt count down time when you place ingredients into a pot, not too much recipes
Pretty, but flaky. The basics: changing temperature and time only works sometimes. Issues connecting to the device. The cooking guide has no suggestions about any seafood. Im considering to return the device because software is close to be unusable.
Unable to adjust timer, as my iPhone 4S screen is too small to have access to buttons that disappear off the bottom of the screen. It worked perfectly fine before the recent updates. Please make a "ok," "go", "next" or "return" button available right on the keyboard.
The Stop Cooker doesnt work. The Start Cooker doesnt work. If you stop it manually and then set the temperature and time in the app the Start Cooker doesnt work. If you set the temp on the device and then start it, the time set in the app shows as _zero_ How can I recover the previous version that worked?
I LOVE my Anova and have been using it at least once a week since it was released last year. But the latest update for the app is useless. I cant connect my phone to my Anova. It connects and recognizes it and even knows the current temp, but it will not initiate a cook. So I set it manually last time and for reasons unknown to me, the temperature went up from 137 to 191 and RUINED $25 worth of good steak. This is the first time its ever happened. I just manually started a 155 degree, 24 hour bath for ribs and I will now have to monitor it closely to check on the temperature. PLEASE update the app to connect correctly. I really miss having so much control over the cooker when Im at work, etc.
While using this app on a very expensive steak, it set the machine to 180 in the middle of the cook without me knowing. Luckily I caught it before it got all the way up there. It doesnt work over the data network. It will monitor the current and target temp, but you cant make changes unless you are on the same wifi network. Very disappointed especially since the machine sells based partially on what this app *should* do. **Update 7/29/16 Still doesnt work over cell network after app update. If it did, it would be worth the extra money for this feature. Right now, I can only use my phone to control the machine from home. This isnt useful.
The app used to work fine but no longer after this update. Its connected and reads the temperature fine. But when start or stop are pressed on the user interface. Nothing happens. I tried unpairing and paring it back, but it still has the same result. Please fix!
This app used to be a life saver! Now it wont even connect to the cooker. Its a good thing the Bluetooth version still works or my head would have exploded ala "Scanners!"
You should fire you developers, QAs and PM. How could you release an update that make the main feature of this cooker not work completely? We paid more for the wifi version and now wifi functionality does not work any more. I can see the current and target temperatures, but cannot control it, such as changing temperature or setting timer. You should issue some warning, error message, error code. Those are the basic requirements for software development.
The WiFi version of this app and device has been a disaster. Avoid at all cost. Find the older Bluetooth and buy that. It worked every time. The WiFi device is almost impossible to use. Cant connect to wifi errors all the time, broken app, can only connect app to a single device, just a disaster
This last update totally borked the app. As other have said you can monitor the temperature but you have ZERO control (cant start or stop the cooker) over actually operating it in wifi. I spent the extra $$$ for the wifi version over the Bluetooth version EXPLICITLY so I could control and monitor cooking when Im at work. On that note the Bluetooth app and control work fine. How it it so goddamn hard to unify the two apps into a single app. Why does there even need to be a separate and perpetually broken and under featured wifi version of the app. When an update is published ONLY to "fix bugs" and you introduce a show stopping bug, just swallow your pride, admit your mistake, and roll back to the last version.
Your latest release has broken the WiFi connectivity as other reviewers mention. Ive reset the Anova device, removed the app, reinstalled and re-setup BT and WiFi, yet the app on iPhone 5S will not start nor stop a cooking session. My WiFi connectivity is strong enough that I can stream a 1080p movie from the bottom floor to the top floor of a 3100 sq. foot home, so its not a WiFi signal strength issue. I have an Apple Airport Extreme. Please fix this issue and test better before you release these updates that actually break the most important feature - WiFi.
Lets face it, it connects to the device, and thats all it does. I cant change temps from the app, start or stop the device, or set the timer. This problem is on a local network so I wouldnt expect it to work properly from outside my home either. The other app does work locally but I though the whole idea was to be able to do all the things Anova says to go do outside your home with peace of mind. Fixing "bugs" is one thing. Releasing an app thats not working is another. Fix the app, then find the pesky bugs please...
This app use to work well, but with the recent update I am no longer able to control my Anova through the app. About the only thing the app does correctly now is show the current water bath temperature. Discovered that an older Anova app exists, and does control the Anova via Bluetooth. While this wont control the Anova from far away, at least it allows the temperature and timer to be set.
The latest update broke wifi remote start and stop, temp control function of app! It was working prior to the update. Now all it does is show the status of the temperature and clock count down. Please fix this ASAP! I like this unit, and would hate to have to return it due to a software Bug!
