Anova WI-FI App Reviews

Connected great

I had no problem with connection or setting up the network. Worked great and I had control and visibility to the cooker. A simple and clean app that worked great for me.

After update....useless

Was working great two weeks ago (last version) but I tried it today and had nothing but problems. Wouldnt connect for the longest. Reset unit and phone. Tried again a few times and got it to connect briefly then it disconnected. Love it when updates go in the wrong direction.

Doesnt work

Wasted half hour trying without success to connect to Wi-fi. Needs work.

Wifi not working - disappointing

Just got my machine the other day and was excited to use it for the first time but the wifi control isnt working. I hit the start button and it wont stay on.

Had been working great, update broke it

Was working great - sending messages well, etc. but since installing update to 1.0.5, I have been unable to connect. Disappointing

Worthless

Totally worthless, would not connect to the device. Do you guys even test what you release?

Does not work

Wifi will not connect

Almost There

I will make this long story short. I specifically purchased the Anova WIFI version to use with my iPhone 6s running IOS 9.2.1. When I turned the device on for the first time with the app installed bluetooth paired as anticipated. When attempting to connect to wifi I received a cute "Whoopsie" message. Although this is better than "See System Administrator" it is far from helpful. I exchanged that unit for another one. Same issue. I did receive email support after one business day - went thru all the normal stuff finding out the device does not support 5g (would have been good to know). Still did not work. The tech support person believes there to be an issue with iPhone 6s on 9.2.1. I installed the iPhone Anova wifi app on my iPad mini running IOS 9.2.1 and it worked just fine and is still working now. Solve the problem please I dont want a different phone.

its not rocket science

Although I was able to connect, the basic timer function does not work. every time I set it it then resets to zero. suggest a new developer.

Worthless

Unable to connect. From other reviews I can see this has been a known problem for some time. App is useless and I will be giving a 1 star on Amazon as well until resolved.

Zero stars not possible

I paid extra for the wifi version, and like so many other iOS users, nothing I do will get the wifi to work. Bluetooth connects, the hardware is great, but I paid extra for the wifi functionality and Im returning this gizmo.

Terrible, wont connect

This app is intended to allow you to connect to your Anova sous vide machine over wifi, but it never successfully connects.

Does not work!

It can never "find an Anova Precision Cooker."

App Suddenly Quit

The original Anova Wifi app connected easily and worked fine. I updated the app with no problems when suddenly it broke the Wifi connection in the middle of cooking. After 10 tries I cannot reconnect. The instructions refer to "Wifi onboarding," (???) which suggests sloppy translation. Defeats the whole purpose of buying this unit.

Great hardware. Lousy software.

The Anova Precision Cooker makes great pork chops. Buy it, enjoy it, but dont plan to use the iPhone app. Getting it set up was a truly lousy out-of-box experience. Something Id expect with a set of cheap knockoff speakers bought on a Shenzhen street corner, NOT a $180 brand-name device from Amazon.com. Getting Bluetooth paired and then Wi-Fi enabled was such a miserable 45-minute slog that normal humans would have put the darned thing back in the box and returned it. It involved following the instructions, then following the advanced instructions, then randomly poking around like a chimpanzee on the flight deck with combinations of: •turning the device on and off, •turning my cellphone on and off, •turning my Wi-Fi router on and off, •choosing a different Wi-Fi network, •pressing sequences of buttons on the Anova unit, •force-quitting the app on my iPhone, •deleting and reinstalling the app on my iPhone, •physically carrying the device upstairs to be next to my router, and •prayer. Then when I wanted to add my wifes iPhone (nowhere does the company state that the device can only be paired with one phone at a time), I hit "unpair" and had to go through the whole beastly process all over again!! (Note: if you cant pair Bluetooth, you cant get to the part of the app with the "Help" menu. Youre left to fend for yourself with Google. Thats just bad UX design.) My home installation is vanilla: an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11n, running the current firmware 7.6.4. WPA2 Personal encryption. Two iPhones (one 6, one 6S) both running iOS 9.2.1. Once everything worked, I discovered the app is simplistic to the point of being pointless. You cant actually "schedule" a cook... you can just press the "Start" button while youre someplace else. If that means the middle of the night... well, you can do it from the comfort of your bed rather than trekking to the kitchen, but you still have to wake up. Great hardware. The software isnt ready for primetime.

Doesnt Work at All

Bought the product. Downloaded the app. Tried many times and in many ways to connect to wifi. Tried different versions, uninstalls, reinstalls, restart router, restart modem, changed password on router. Impossible.

Great cooker, app not so much

For starters, the anova cooker is great, however the app is just not functional. Crashes intermittently, cant remember my wifi password, and wont connect to the cooker. It seems like it should be a beta test version or something.

Anova Wifi

Since having the precision cooker for about two weeks I have very much better enjoyed the hardware and software. The app itself, is plain compared to the non wifi app. I wish it had more to it. However a new update was released today that allows you to leave your meat in an ice bath to make sure it doesnt spoil while away from the house. I look forward to further development. Notification settings, a more in depth UI, and updates that pop up and tell you your temp or the ability to give an estimate of how long it will take for the water to heat up to the desired temp.

App is Broken

Constantly crashes and loses connectivity. Absolutely worthless in the current state.

Simply wont connect via wifi

It pairs via Bluetooth but not wifi. Ive tried everything. Went on n the site for troubleshooting. The rig is amazing. Love it. The app is garbage since it doesnt connect. Fix it!
